                 ZUZU now LILLY

Cathie - here are some photos of Zuzu with some of our family. She’s fitting right in – we love her.  Bailey is even getting used to her stealing his attention. Thanks for providing such a wonderful opportunity for the adoption of our second Yorkie.  She’s so perfect! – Mary Creager

P.S. – She enjoyed her first snow today.  It was hilarious watching her hop around in it.

Update 1/3/06:We just returned from the vet’s.  ZuZu received a clean bill of health.  They were very impressed by her, the doctor even took your card and xeroxed it in case any one she knows is looking for a yorkie.  They didn’t do a urinalysis on her today, she felt that she has been through enough the last few weeks.  If I can collect her urine here at the house and bring it in she will check it that way.  Hopefully I will be able to do that tonight or tomorrow.  She is getting very used to being spoiled rotten.  She is literally a “lap” dog.  She is beginning to get used to the outdoors more and more and she is even beginning to play with Bailey a little.  I expect that within the next few weeks she will really open up and we will see a whole new side of her.

Update 2/5/06:I just wanted to check in and let you know how Lilly is doing.  As you can tell we changed her name from Zsu Zsu to Lilly.  After the first week with us we realized that her name just didn’t fit her personality.  So we made a list and found the one that fits her best.  She is doing wonderful by the way.  She is enjoying the life of a princess and has the complete household wrapped around her little paw.  She is doing very well with the housetraining.  She still does not like going outside very much and prefers to use the housetraining pads.  We will work on weaning her from those in the spring.  She is such a perfect match for us and for our other dogs.  It seems like she’s been a part of our family for years.  You really did an amazing job finding us a dog that fits our home and personalities.  I know I’ve said it a million times, but thank you so much.

                                                                   JACK

Hello Sue,

Things are going just wonderful.  Jack was a little nervous at first but has settled into the routine of his new home.  His first week with us he did a lot of begging for people food but now he sits peacefully until we are finished eating.  Resultantly he has lost one pound!!  He is so funny, when he is most relaxed he sleeps with all four legs sticking straight up in the air!   We are very happy to have Jack!   Thanks for checking in!

                                                                 CALI

Sue and Cathie-

So last weekend we discovered Cali is not a big fan of the snow! We were surprised because of how much he loves being outside and running around. Doug tried to take him for a run and they got down the street and Cal turned around to come back home - his little paws were cold! So we went out to get him some booties but he hates them. I guess he will not be as active over the winter as he was for us in the fall. I just hope he doesn't get fat! Speaking of, he had put on just under 2 pounds at his last trip to the vet and they were very happy with him. They were a little concerned about his low weight on our first trip with him. Everything else relating to the vet is fabulous as well. He has his first trip to the official groomer (he had been given a bath and the vet and at home for the first month or so) and he didn't enjoy it so much. The groomer said he showed his teeth every time anyone got close to his face - so they were unable to trim him much around his head. I am sure as he gets used to going that will be fine. His personality has changed a great deal as well. If you remember, when we first brought him home he was literally scared of his shadow. He didn't go into the kitchen for days after he saw his reflection in the stove - we had to move his food bowls! He was also constantly on edge. He would never curl up and lay down - he would sit there and keep one eye open all the time and was extremely jumpy and nervous. So much to the point that everyone meeting him was asking me if I was going to have the vet put him on anti-anxiety meds! Well that is completely different. He is so comfortable with us now. He sprawls around the house wherever he wants - couch, futon, floor, our bed! He doesn't jump when people touch him and he doesn't freak out when he is picked up now. He has also become very snuggly. He used to be so hyper he would make my head spin! Now he wants to be next to me all the time. When he wants to cuddle he picks me - when he wants to play or go running outside he goes to Doug! He has the best of both worlds. And when he is in a cuddly mood I have to pry him off of my lap to get anything done. He needs to be ON TOP of me! Even when we go to bed at night - he lays right up against me - if I move over he gets up and moves closer - this would go on until I fell off the other side! He is too funny. He's also becoming much more behaved. We've done a lot of training with him here at home that I just knew from having dogs my entire life. He used to steal anything he could grab and destroy it - like a new puppy. Socks, slippers, clothes, tissues, toilet paper, pens, mail - whatever he could reach was in his mouth and destroyed in about 3 minutes. When we would try to get it away from him he would hide in a place we couldn't reach him and sometimes get snappy. We worked on it little by little and now he is to the point where he only takes our slippers and socks - but we look at him and say "drop it" and he spits it right out and runs over and gives us kisses. He mostly does it when we are ignoring him as his way to get us to love him - it works every time! The stuffed toys is still an issue for us - but it's getting better everyday. I bought a book on "resource guarding" and he starts an official class in January. That should be an adventure! Basically for now we don't give him those toys that he goes nuts for - we give him the ones that are in the middle - he likes them but could live without them - and we practice giving it and taking it away - and rewarding him when he drops or lets us take it from his mouth. He's doing extremely well with everything but the little stuffed baby toys - but he's even improved so much on them. As you know - we've had our issues there! Like everything else - I am confident that will get better with time and patience. He still gets a little uneasy in places he is not so familiar with and in the car. He is good with most dogs but definitely thinks he is bigger than the Rottwielers down the street. After we tackle the toy issue we are going to work on staying next to us with no leash. Right now that is a lost cause! During the summer we will be vacationing with my family in Maine and I don't want to have to leave him on a runner while all of the other dogs are running free - so that is important for me.

So there is his progress summed up as much as it can be! Basically, he is a little doll and we adore him. Getting him was much like getting a new puppy - with the additional challenge of "untraining" whatever he learned from his background. The way he is behaving at this point is that of a dog in his age range that has been with us since he was a baby. He adapted to us so fast! Oh and I am so happy for Quentin! I read the update the other day and was so glad for the rest of the day - what a perfect match up! Quentin and his new owner could not have gotten any luckier! I am sure he is a special one that you will miss greatly.

Hi Cathie,

I haven't talked with you for a while so I just wanted to say hi. Cali is
doing awesome! He has me, Doug, and everyone who meets him wrapped around
his paw. Our landlord keeps telling us to go on vacation so she can keep
him for a week. I have a ton of pictures at home so I know I have to send
you some. We're actually going to be moving to Florida over the summer so
hopefully you will get a chance to meet him before we go. I can't make the
April play date because it's my father's birthday. I am DYING for another
one but Doug won't let me until we're moved and settled in (which I know is
for the best
anyway, but I can't help it). I have a neighbor up the street
with 2 Yorkies, one she bought from a pet store and the poor thing had a
liver shunt. She went through so much last summer and I was thinking of you
with all of the sick dogs you have taken in lately. They had the surgery
done out in Grafton and little Daisy is MUCH better now. She is thinking
about getting a third so I was going to give her your website and contact
info. Her name is Vivian and she is fantastic. She's a widow and works only
part-time, has a big yard, and treats her dog better than her kids (in her
own words) so I think she'd be a great person to adopt to. Her dogs love
others dogs and are great with people too. Daisy is 1 and Rocky is either 2
or 3.

I hope all is well with you - let me know if you need anything!

                                                            TAZ now BARNEY

Cathie-

Barney (was Taz) and I attended his third private obedience class Friday night and we continue to make progress ! His behavior and my ability to manage him with the training techniques we learned from Nancy has made a world of difference. His class Friday wasn't the most productive but we seemed to attain a new level in our (man's best friend) relationship. We were back at Performance Plus on Saturday morning for his first of a four week class with other dogs in a group. We will be there the next three Saturdays at 10 AM which will just about finish his formal training. He was so well behaved and I was one proud Papa. That would have been impossible one month ago. We cleared the seven week mark since his arrival at 649 Elm and it seems like I have had him for ages. Nancy noticed a significant improvement especially with his head always being up and looking to me for direction. He can sit, lay down, give paw, roll over and come on command. He'll do anything for a treat ! I had him in the big part of my back yard this weekend doing yard work and when he was getting in trouble (trying to dig a hole under the fence) I would just call him "Barney - come" and he would make a bee line to me. It was so precious to watch. Molly has been picking up on all of this as well so it is a 2 for 1 deal. I got him eating the Artemis which is key because he put on some weight since I got him. Which is all my fault but I got it under control and hope to get him back to tip top shape soon. Molly is starting to eat as well it cause she sees him and thinks it is a treat. He follows me every where I go and is always by my side or on my lap. He has been getting along very well with Molly and I think he now has her approval to be part of the family. I am so glad I kept that little rascal. I don't have to worry about him at all and I can trust him as he now trusts me !

Bob

Note:  Taz (now Barney) came into Yorkies Inc labeled as a "biter". He was very young and his previous home was very inexperienced, so we wanted to give him a chance. He was adopted into an experience "Adult Only" home on the stipulation that Obedience Classes would be given. We found a wonderful Trainer Nancy Droukas of Performance Plus to take on Barney and give him a second chance. We thank Bob Marsh, Barney's new Dad and Nancy for putting forth the effort and dedication to make a difference for one very special little Yorkie!

                                                                 BREWSTER

Hi Cathie,

Well, this little guy has made himself at home. For now, I am the chosen one. He follows me around, he watched the game with me on the couch, walks well on a leash, actually followed me upstairs when I went to change last night and slept 8 hours with us in bed. He never makes a peep!! Karen did take him out last night and he peed and pooped.

For now he eats like a bird, I gave him a greenie and let him eat one third of it during the game. He is curious about what we are eating but have avoided the temptation. He did the 2 hour car ride wonderfully and that is good since we plan on taking him to Canada with us when we visit Karen's family which is a 5 hour ride.  I haven't officially vetted him, I am off today and back to work tomorrow so I will give him my "once over" and report back to you. I caught him a few times licking his neuter incision, which seems to be too tight, so I may take the sutures out after 7 days if all looks well healed. I just say "don't do that, no", and he stops. Bottom line...so far so good...we all know he is a cool dog and I can see why you would miss him so much. So much for Day 1 update, and I will keep you posted about tomorrow's trip to the clinic and how he does there.

                     Regards,  Doc Paul

Update 10/11/05
Cathie,
When I took Brewster to work he immediately went over to where he could smell where other dogs went and he peed and pooped. YIPPEE!!! He did so well today at the clinic, he hung out with the techs and actually did very well alone in the office managers office with her in his little dog bed. He was so into it that I don't think he slept much today. I expect a huge power nap from him tonight.  He does not have ear mites as treated for, but he has a yeast infection in both ears. I dug quite a bit of stuff out and he did not even move. He is on the ear meds now and will do just great. His heart and lungs are fine, only left patella is luxating, open fontanel and he weighs 4.8 lbs...all no biggies. He ate very well today and seems very content. He is on the futon now and says HI !!! I will keep you posted.

 Doc Paul and Karen

Update 10/16/05
Cathie,
Brewster is fitting right in. He is starting to play more, has no more "bathroom" issues, and has his few favorite spots all staked out now. Feel free to use the pictures, after all, cuteness must be shared. Needless to say, if it is OK with you we would like to keep him :-) It has been hard this week with virtually no nice weather and he still is OK with going out and enjoys being outdoors with us. He is great in the car and loves to go when we do. We cannot thank you enough for our new little bundle of joy.

Doc Paul and Karen

Update 10/30/05

 Cathie,

Well our little man has made himself quite at home. He is in a nice routine and has been just a joy for the both of us. His favorite toy is a sock that we have tied into a ball and he just runs with it and thinks it is the cat's meow. He has the house training down and he is still my shadow and doesn't let me too far from his sight. We cannot thank you enough for Brewster and trust me when I tell you that he could not be in a better home. He stays home with Karen part of the week and goes to work with me 2 days a week. His ears are perfect, no medical problems and he has a grooming appointment in 2 weeks. In this picture he has a Halloween bandana on and a "Sunset Strip" harness. He doesn't snore but he is very tired from a day at work with me. I will send photos now and then for you to see.

Hugs to you too...............Doc Paul

1/24/06

Hey there,

I know that we have been bad adopting parents but trust me Brewster is more than alive and well. It took a while but this dog has so much personality it is frightening. He is very playful, at times uses the furniture as his own obstacle course, has more agility than any 2 dogs I know, loves plowing through the snow, minds very well at work, in fact, he gets to run free most of the time and he knows his limits. This is not a typical Brewster picture because he is still, although I must say when we are busy he just lays there, and when it is time to play he is rare and ready to go. We could not have asked for a better dog!!! We cannot thank you enough for he has brought us so much joy. I have a few more pics to send so I will get to it....Thanks,   Doc Paul

Note: We are proud to report that Brewster has been adopted by Veterinarian, Dr Paul Belliveau and his wife Karen of Milton NH.

                                                          HONEY now GINNY

Cathie,

Ginny (Honey) is doing very well.  Wants to go with me everywhere, even if she has to wait in the car.  So when the weather or location permits, she is with me.  Sleeps with me now.  Toilet training to pads is almost complete.  Very few accidents.  She had her first grooming and she & the groomer got along well.  She has met both of her vets, her MA vet for any problems when we are home and her VT foot visitors, that even if Ginny did something wrong she lived in a no scold zone.  Tonight I broke my own rule.  I had collected all the household trash for collection tomorrow. Before I took it out, I went into another room to read for a while.  When I came back, the trash had been trashed.  I called Ginny and just said "Bad Dog"  IF YOU COULD HAVE SEEN THE LOOK IN HER EYES AS SHE DROPPED HER HEAD. I waited a couple of minutes and then said, "It's all right Ginny, it's OK"  She perked up and I picked her up & hugged her.  I figured that her transgression meant she was really a dog and her remorse like all dogs was good while I was in the room. Meanwhile, my neighbors have also fallen in love with Ginny.  If I go out for an evening unusual) they invite Ginny over to stay  until I return. Ginny likes leashed walks.  I always use a harness, better for the esophagus.  She loves unleashed runs, usually in the back yard.  She goes no where near the road and never gets more than about 40' from me, and then runs to catch up.  She is always very happy after those outings. She can get on the sofa by herself, has a den of her own to escape to if she needs to feel secure, and as it gets colder she seems happy to sit beside me as I read in the lounge chair. She still won't do toys, and believe me, my house looks like the toy aisle in PetSmart, so I am now trying carrying around a hedgehog stuffed animal with squeaker and rope tail.  She sleeps with it at night, but the affinity has not taken yet. Finally found the treat she tolerates, Freeze Dried Liver.  Cheerios, nor anything else on the market has not interested her.  In fact I made a shelter very happy with her rejects. All told, I think her insecurity is beginning to fade, and her trust level is going up. I could not be happier for both of us.  And I thank you so much for being the angel who brought us together. As far as we are concerned and I think I can speak for Ginny, we have found her forever home!

Take  good care!!!!!
Cheryl

                                                                        KRIZI

Cathie,

Krizi is every thing I wanted and more. She is so precious. We all love her. She is every thing you said she was. It is, a perfect match. And it sure helped by giving me that list from diet through her favorite pastime. I have referred to that list a lot. Thanks again for picking my application, for I was the lucky one. I will keep you updated on her and will send you pictures.

Sue

Update: Cathie,
Had Krizi to the groomers, notice her Halloween bows!! Krizi does NOT like her picture taken, she won't look at the camera. She is doing wonderful and is loved by all. She loves her new cousins, Toby and Nick, she actually gets excited to see them. I take her everywhere, which makes it hard to leave because everyone wants to pat and hold her!! What a ham!! Okay will send more pictures in the future.

Sue

Note: Krizi was my little shadow. She even cried for me while I showered. Krizi seemed a bit shy in taking to new people, but strangely enough it seemed she was just waiting for Sue to come and be her new "Mom." She immediately wanted Sue over me....just look at the picture of Krizi and Sue's first meeting! It was love at first sight for BOTH! Krizi is 11 years old and still has much more love to give and receive...And this is what it's all about. ~Cathie Cyr co-founder Yorkies Inc.

                                                                    JASMINE

Hi Cathie, I know it's been a while since we've sent you any info, but time does fly.  Anyway, Jasmine is doing just fine and has adapted well at this point.  She's a great pet (although still a bit nervous at times), but still likes to get into everything, so we're always aware of what is around that she can get into.  She has very few accidents at this point and just loves to be outdoors and go for walks.  We both love her very much.  Jasmine is at her happiest when Kathy's around.  But she enjoys playing and walking with me too.  All in all, everything is working out fine and thank you.

 Ron & Kathy

Update:

All remains well with our little girl.  She's much more trusting and is doing great.  She's into her routines and seems right at home now.  She still loves the outdoors.  We just replaced our back deck, so we had it build so the sides pedestals are close enough together so she can't squeeze through and we put a gate in front of the steps that go down to the grass.  Now we can sit out there with her and not keep her on the leash so she can enjoy the outside and be somewhat free.  She has worked out great and we just love her. We haven't taken any new pictures lately, but when we do I'll send them to you.

Update 3/01/06:

I know it's been a while, but I just wanted to say hi and let you know that all is well us and our little girl.  Jasmine is doing great and  is fine.  She's so smart and now even likes me as well.  She's still a little skittish at times, but overall she's just a lot of fun.  I sit on the floor with her for 15 or 20 minutes almost every evening and she just loves to play catch with a particular stuffed animal that she loves.  I throw it and then she brings it back to me.  Sometimes she drops it in front of me and sometimes she won't let it go at first, but then drops it and waits for me to throw it again.  Anyway, that's about it.  Hope you and yours are well also.

Update 11/26/06:

I know it's been a while since we've written, but time does fly.  I just wanted to wish you and yours a happy holiday wish from us and let you know how Jasmine is getting along.  So first HAPPY HOLIDAYS, and  Jasmine is doing wonderful.  She is now a real pet that loves us both as well as my Mother-in-Law.  In fact, the last few times we have taken short trips, my Mother-in-law watches Jasmine because she doesn't want her to be put in a kennel.  She feels she can handle her OK and in fact thinks this is the best dog we've ever had.  So Jasmine has reached total family status and we've spoiled her in many ways.  She no longer sleeps in her crate, but with us and that's fine.  She even barks and goes crazy when I get home from work, and we have a pretty good time playing and being with her all evening.  Although it's taken a good amount of time, she now trusts us (I can now walk up to her and she let's  me pet her when I bend down instead of running off) and has become a real family member and we love her.

Well that's about it, so again happy holidays.

  Ron
                                                          VIOLET now GINGER

Hi Cathie,

I just wanted to let you know how much we love Ginger (Violet) and how well she is doing! I can't believe that it's over six weeks since we got her!  The time has flown by so quickly! She has been everywhere with us - birthday parties, wine and cheese parties, family barbecues - the list goes on and on.  She will go to anyone and just loves to be the center of attention!  She readily gives kisses and adores being held!  She is so in love with her "brothers", Panda and Frosty (picture attached), especially Panda (the black and white one).  She has really become a member of the Smith Family pack! She is completely housetrained and no longer requires her crate.  She has "staked out" her spot on the bed at night with both her brothers and "sister" cat.  She really likes our older cat, Storm.  However, our younger cat, Misty, isn't so tolerable of Ginger.  She prefers to stay out of her sight, since Ginger constantly barks at her!  However, they still get along - no fights!   Except for the occasional "submissive peeing" when I try to put on her leash, she loves her walks!  She isn't shy of anything, including the deer!  She loves to see them run when she barks at them on our walks or in the yard.  She is such a love!  We feel so blessed to have added her to our family!  We absolutely adore her!  Thanks again for choosing us to be her family!  Hope you like her picture!  I think the last one is the best one to add to your "Happy Tails", but you can choose any one you wish.   Talk to you soon!

Love, Vanessa, Gregg & Kyle Smith

Hi Cathie,

Wow, I can't believe that we have Ginger over three months!  Where has the time gone?!  She is doing so well.  She plays with the "boys" now, and even plays with the little cat, Misty, the one she used to bark at all the time!  It's so cute to see her.  Ginger does most of the playing, running around her, nudging her, etc. and Misty just lays there and paws at her, or hides under the couch and pounces when Ginger comes close.  She plays with toys all the time now, not just chewing her chewies.  I bought a small spray of silk flowers for her to wear tomorrow for thanksgiving, since the boys wear scarves and I didn't have the same material to make her one (they are about two years old).  She will look so cute!!!  I also bought her the jeweled tiara that was in Petedge and the holiday scrunchie with the bells on it for Christmas!   I can hardly wait!!!!  I gave her her first bath here this week.  She was really great.  The submissive peeing has just about stopped - just a few dribbles now and then, usually when she has to go out first thing in the morning.  I make sure that I put her leash on at the front door on the tile, so clean up if necessary is a snap.  She's even getting better about putting the leash on!  She is just as happy as a clam!!  We are so blessed to have her.  If fact, when we each get to say one thing we are thankful for tomorrow, she will be mine!!!

                                                                    MUTTSY

Cathie~

I've attached a new picture of Muttsy with her longer hair and a bow!  I don't remember if I told you or not, but she has developed a heart murmur...so we're keeping an eye on that, and it was advised that she no longer go to the groomer, in order to keep her stress level to a minimum. I'm doing the best I can with the grooming...hehehe. When she's stressed, her little tongue turns blue. But the sweet little girl is still going strong!

                                                                                                                          ~Renee

Muttsy was adopted out almost two years ago. She is now 13 years old!

                                                      PUMPKIN now DULCI

Hi Cathie,

Within two days of being off the antibiotic (for the dental), Dulci began perking up tremendously.  I'd set her down outside the front door and before I knew it she'd be bounding across the parking lot, derriere high in the air like a bunny, running all the way to the end of her leash! Additionally, and much to my relief, her appetite has improved, too! She is still way too fond of the mushy food, but is now eating the kibble that I mix in, as well, so I'm expecting that she will be come much more "regular," intestinally-speaking, than she had been during the first two weeks with her new mom.  She can almost get through the night without whimpering any more - she'll start around 4 a.m. or so, but it doesn't last long and she settles right down when she hears my voice. Last night she had her stitches removed - YAAAAY!!!  She was as good as gold, everyone there fawned over her, and she was quite happy with the attention (although she had been shaking like a leaf when we first went in). She had lost a tiny bit of weight since surgery (hernia repair)- that's to be expected - but given the increase in her appetite, I'm certain Dulcinea will regain it in no time!  He just requested that I call him in a week to let him know that her appetite has continued to improve and that her stools are more regular. The vet confirmed, not only that she has luxating patella (sp?) in her right hind leg (which I knew), but that her left hind leg has it, too. I can pop the left one back in; the right one is so bad that it just goes in and out continuously. But it's common in the breed and she copes very nicely, so I don't intend to try and correct it. Dulci's been though enough, and she isn't suffering, so I'm not gonna be a nervous, first-time mom type. Rather than lie on the couch beside me (I do tend to get up and down a lot), she will quite often elect to go and lie in the only corner of the living room from which she can see me. If I'm around the corner in the kitchen too long, she'll come out to check on me, or sometimes go lie in her bedroom crate, where she still keep me in sight. So while she isn't a Velcro Dog, she does like to know where I am! Thanks again for putting the two of us together, Cathie - we're becoming a very happy family!

6/14/06

Dulcinea is thriving, I am most pleased to report!  Her gastrointestinal difficulties have decreased markedly since going to a strictly wet Iams diet, after all attempts to interest her in dry kibble failed miserably.  Only when she periodically stops eating for a few days do her problems resurface.  I fear I may never understand what leads to these inexplicable "hunger strikes," as I think of them <sigh>.

Dulci is tolerant of grooming, perhaps in part because she has finally come to understand how exquisite she is!  You'll be pleased to hear that whenever we are outdoors and she spies someone - anyone - Dulcinea will change course and head directly towards the person!  She has come to believe it her obligation to greet people, to allow them the opportunity to pet and admire her, and then receive her many kisses!  While still timid of loud noises and sudden movements, she approaches both a Cocker Spaniel and a six-month old Sheba Inu readily, and happily accepts the attention of their owners.  Dulci has truly come into her own, and her sweetness wins the hearts of all who meet her.  I honestly don't know what I did to deserve her, but I love her to pieces!

We'll be attending two celebrations over the weekend of the Fourth.  I remain technologically challenged, but if someone is kind enough to take some digital pictures of her, I will certainly forward them along.  Trust this finds you well and counting the days until the beginning of summer!

 Fondly, Sue

                                                           CANDY now CHLOE

Cathie- I was thinking of you recently because on June 16th we had Chloe for 6 months….it seems like so much longer!!!!!!!  I just had to tell you how absolutely wonderful she is.  She really is the best little girl in the world and has added SO much to our lives.  Oz and Harry are  wonderful too and doing so well with her.  The ride home is so exciting for both of us because we know what is waiting on the other end…..3 babies who just want to please us and love us.  They are pure joy and really do make our lives so good.  We were out last night and had a friend come over to sit with them….tonight we are SO looking forward to getting home and hanging out with them.  It’s like having children…….we stay home and spend all our time with them.  We wouldn’t have it any other way. Thanks again for letting us have all of them- especially Chloe.  I know you guys thought she was so special and you were so right.  She really is something.  She is our world. Have a wonderful holiday weekend.  Take care.

                                                                   WIMBLEY

Cathie,

I just wanted to let you know how happy I am to have Wimbley.  He makes me laugh everyday.  Brady (my cat) made a quick and smooth adjustment to Wimbley's arrival and can often be found grooming Wimbley.  Wimbley had his first haircut and had his bangs cut off (much to my surprise).  We are in the process of growing them back.  He is by my side or in my lap constantly and I am looking forward to spending my summer vacation with my new friend. Thank you so much.

                             MURPHY

Hi Cathie,

Just wanted to let you know that Murphy is doing great!  He's really a part of the family/pack now. He's eating very well, and will only go on the pee pad.  I have one in the bathroom and he only goes in there, has never had an accident in the house! He really enjoys going out in the yard, and will now actually walk on the grass - he was afraid of it at first. He sleeps in the big bed between my pillow and Wayne's pillow and doesn't move all night.  All the dogs have their own spot on the bed, that's why we have a king size bed! He seems to have put on a little weight, and his legs seem to be stronger, he walks around all day following me, so it's good exercise. All in all he's doing just fine, he's such a little doll!!!!!

    I'll be in touch,

               Paula

                                    MAX

Hi Cathie,

Max is fitting in just fine. He loves his walks that my husband and I take him on and he loves to visit the Nursing home we moved my mother into and be cuddled and spoiled by everybody. I'm not sure what we did before we had him...he is such a treat!! We'll come visit if that is alright? Thank you again for this great experience and a great companion...

                                                                                               Always, JoAnn Bollin

Update:2/27/06:

Hi Cathie,
Max is doing Great...We love him..not sure how we survived without him. I take him to NJ and Ny to visit our kids..great company in the car. He does have a behavior issue with other dogs in the neighborhood...but we're working on that. My husband even talks about getting another dog.
   Will keep in touch.

Always, JoAnn and Max
                                                                     LOUIE

Cathie

We just wanted you to thank you again for all the love and care you give to these dogs. He was the right pup for our family and we love him so much. Louie is still quite the character. His name suits him well. I can hardly believe that two months has already passed by so quickly. It's like having a toddler all over again and he keeps us on our toes for sure. He is truly a big dog in a pint size body and we laugh along with his antics even when he chewed through his harness. He is now a happy and healthy dog. We get kisses all the time and he obeys a few commands and he barks now to go outside. Potty training is getting better as time passes and he is on regular food again. We are learning from each other every day.  I can't wait to get home from work to see him because I miss him so much. He was the best Easter gift I have ever received.

Bless you, The Pelletier Family

Note: Louie was surrendered because he had tested positive for Liver Shunt. After many weeks of testing and re-testing and observation it was determined that Louie had Lead Poisoning. He had been chewing lead painted woodwork at his previous home. We were all thrilled to find out that Louie's Bile Acid levels returned to normal and he would again be a healthy yorkie puppy! A VERY Happy Ending!!

BENTLEY & MEGELLAN now BENTLEY  & SPANKY

Hi Cathie,

Sorry we haven't written sooner but, we have just been having too much fun! Bentley and Spanky (Megellan) adjusted immediately. They were our boys the minute we walked out of your door. As you can see in the pictures it is certainly a dog's life at the Thomas' home! They both are two love bugs. When they are not kissing then they are asleep in the bed. Every day is an adventure. From listening to the birds, chasing a leave or challenging the Great Dane across the street. We can't imagine life without them. Thanks for everything!

Sincerely, Bentley and Spanky's Mom and Dad Jim and Louise Thomas

                                                                        DAISY

Good morning Cathie,

Just wanted to send you a quick email to update you on the newest addition to the Biggieri family.  Every day we see Daisy becoming more and more part of the family --  from hiding her "greenie" and taunting us to find it, to being the watchdog and alerting us that someone is at the door.  She has claimed the middle of the pillows as her sleeping spot each night and stretches out her little body so that her toes are under our blankets.  We have a sun room similar to yours that leads out to our back yard and the bird & squirrel feeders.  She has taken to scratching on the door to let us know she wants to head out to explore, but we have decided she can never go out alone.  She is virtually "pee pee" trained to go outside.  She knows that is what we are up to, when I just stand there and don't move.  Next is the poop training, but I am not going to rush that, especially with the rain coming. She is truly living the American dream.

Talk to you soon ~E

Update: We have had a very nice summer.  We had the yard re-fenced in as our old stockade fence needed some help.  Daisy heads to the back of the property to do her business and then runs through the grass with her hair blowing in the breeze.  She looks like a little Lassie.  I will send you a picture of how cute she looks.  We also put on a 20 x 20 deck with two gates, so that she can sit on the deck and sunbathe, but be close to the house, when I can't be outside with her.  She has come a long way.  She now loves toys and throws them in the air and then makes sure we are looking at her or trying to get the toy before her.  She has won everyone who comes to our house hearts.    When someone drives into the yard, we say to her "who's here?" and she starts to bark -- she is our little watchdog now.  I have been in touch with Petco and am going to start her on some training.  She is still very afraid to walk on the lease and shakes when we bring her for a ride in the car.  I have been putting her in my grandson's car seat with her blanket and that seems to calm her because she can look out, but she would rather just not go.  We want to work on the riding and walking on a lease with us, so I think the training class will be beneficial for all of us.  We do think she gets lonely when we are not home.  She has a baby stuffed puppy that she sleeps with -- it is kind of sad, but cute.  So, we are still in the market for another Yorkie...

Update 7/31/2007:Good morning Cathie,

Greetings from Daisy and her family in Foxboro.  I just wanted to send you a few pictures of Daisy taken on her "birthday weekend".  She turned 7 years old this weekend.  It is hard to believe that we have had her a little over 2 years now.  As you can see, she is very happy and has slimmed down.  We "babysat" my daughter's 5 year old male Golden for a week and Daisy was the "mother" and ran him all over the backyard.  Then the two of them came in the house and collapsed in the air conditioning and slept the rest of the day.  She took her job very seriously.
Daisy has become Richard's baby now and follows him around.   Last year Richard had two hip replacements and she walked behind him and his physical therapist like she was his guard dog.  He would be lost without her.
I now have a grooming place called "Zoomin Groomin" come to the house to groom her because she still was getting scared about going to the groomer.  They are a mobile grooming van and the ladies who I have gotten are caring and very good at their jobs.  I would highly recommend them.  (Although, her favorite haircut was from you that time we came to Taunton!)
Hope all is well with you and your family of people and puppies.

Take care, Elaine

                                                    BREWSTER now SCOOTER

Dear Cathie:

It’s been over a year now since Scooter joined our family so we wanted to tell you a little bit about him. He is slowly developing social skills which the groomer/trainer has been very helpful with, but he is still very shy around other dogs when he goes on his walks with Mum and when he goes to Puppy Day Care. Obedience is still a work in progress- If we spent the time we are sure more could be done- he is highly food oriented and will come on command for a morsel, and he will sit on command. He was easy to house train and will signal a need to go out by circling near the door and sometimes scratching on the door. He travels well the way our beloved Spike did- He will wait in the car for Mum while she teaches a class at the Health Club or goes about her errands and he doesn’t mind long trips- He has been to Florida by car, and he commutes with us to the mountains and back,- he’s at ease the whole time. And he smiles! We never had a dog that smiled!  He will do it when he’s being playful, and when Dad comes home from work he will prance from side to side in front of him, his tail wagging furiously, his lips back baring his little teeth, his jaw clicking shut, making little joyful squeaks instead of barks. You would think Dad had been gone for a year! If Dad is in his easy chair reading and Scooter wants to play he will stick his nose around the corner and bark a few times. If Dad gets up Scooter will take off and duck under the dining room table or he’ll dash into the study and hide under the desk. He will bark in a kind of screechy tone with his tail going like crazy. Then if Dad sits down on the couch Scooter will jump up and snuggle next to him for some good old head scratching. At first he wouldn’t jump up, but Mum taught him how by patting the seat next to Dad and telling him “Up, up!” At meal time Mum just says “Dinner, Scooter?” and he’s at her heel and totally focused as they make their way to the kitchen. While Mum measures out the chow Scooter trots in a little circle at her feet, his little toes clicking nervously on the floor. The food comes down, Mum asks him to sit while she places the bowl next to his water, and Presto! It’s gone in less than a minute! Then a drink of water and he’s off for a nap. Can you tell we like him? Thank you for bringing Scooter (ne Brewster) into our life.

                                                                       TEDDY

Hi, Cathie, Teddy is great. He has definitely bonded with Titus. They sleep together all the time. And, he is definitely my boy!!  He has completed two weeks of obedience school. He has mastered "sit", "quiet", "heel", and he's working on "stay" and "come". Hopefully the next 4 weeks will continue successfully. Teddy had his first "bigboy" haircut today. He looks great and he's been running around all day acting like a bigshot. I think he likes his short hair. I'm still really cautious with him and keep him close. He has a long run in the yard, I'll never be sure about him being loose so this is safer. We go for long walks and even take Tit
