Meet Mateo! Yorkies Inc received an urgent call from Tufts University in Grafton about a 14 week old Yorkie puppy needing urgent medical care. We immediately said we would take him and treatment began. After spending time in oxygen and being stabilized they were able to do an echocardiogram and it was determined that this little guy has an abnormal connection (hole-patent ductus arteriosus) near his heart that has caused very high pressure in his lungs. The only way to fix the hole is if medical management can reduce the pressure in his lungs. Right now due to the pressure in his lungs it is causing the blood to flow the wrong way making surgery not an option. If the hole can be closed, dogs can live a normal life, but surgery cannot be attempted unless medical management is successful. If surgery is not possible, he will be managed medically for as long as he feels well. He is currently getting aggressive medical care to try to stabilize him as much as possible. ❤️
Please keep Mateo in your thoughts and please consider donating to his care as his medical expenses are adding up. We are trying everything possible to lower the pressure in his lungs so he can become a candidate for surgery, as we have had success with this surgery in the past. He is just the sweetest little guy. All the staff at Tufts are in love with him.
Total Donated: $570
