JJ
Male puppy
Age: 6 months (as of April 2025)
Weight: 7 lbs
Please keep JJ in your thoughts. He is having emergency surgery due to something going on in his small intestine. They are not sure if it is a new foreign body or an issue from his previous surgery. The concerning area is in the same location as his second surgery. Please consider making a donation towards his surgery. We were quoted between $6000-$7900 and could use your support. We were not planning on this expense and being a holiday weekend and going through the ER the cost is even more. Thank you for your continued support
Notes:
Chews and swallows items - needs close supervision
Fenced in yard is preferred
Needs a home with no children (see last paragraph below)
Would do well with another dog
Meet JJ! JJ is an adorable active puppy who is 6 months old and weighs around 7lbs. He is a short little guy with a long body and a full tail that wags away! This curious little guy is needing a new forever home because of him chewing and eating things he shouldn't! We know all puppies chew items and get into things, but JJ has had two major surgeries because of this. JJ not only chews things but then swallows them which then become stuck in his digestive system. Luckily he did great during both surgeries and they were a success. His family made the hard decision to give him up as they did not feel equipped to deal with this behavior and were concerned of it happening again (which it did right before he came into Yorkies Inc but luckily he went to the ER in time and they were able to get him to throw the small items up).
Since being in his foster home JJ has been a very curious pup checking out everything and everyone. He has tried but not been successful shredding or chewing up any items, but he is being closely supervised at all times when he is not in his pen. He is redirectable with toy play, attention, and with an offer to chew a cold carrot or cucumber. His foster Mom has been taking him on long walks and having as much playtime outside as she can in order to tire him out as a tired puppy is less likely to become bored and chew. He is enjoying playing with the other dogs in the foster home and we feel he would do well with another dog to keep him busy. He loves leash walks, supervised toy play (needs to be supervised as he ate part of toy which caused one surgery), snuggles, and belly rubs. Would love a safe fenced in yard for him to run and explore in. He must be closely watched as he ate a piece of mulch which required the second surgery.

He is penned trained (larger than a crate). He is working on being house-trained and is learning the sit command. He appears to be very alert and sensitive to noises so we are looking for a house not an apartment. And while he loves kids we are looking for a home with no children as his new home will not be able to leave items around that he could possibly chew and get into. We are working with him on this and hope it is just part of his puppy phase but his new home will need to also be very diligent about his environment.
